National Public Lands Day

September 28, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

We’re celebrating National Public Lands Day with a morning of trail care and a guided hike! Join us for any or all of the following:

(9-11 AM) Trail Care on Bluff Line Trail: We were awarded a grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) for a much needed trail restoration project on Monte Sano Nature Preserve’s Bluffline Trail! [Read all about the NEEF grant here.] We’ve been working on it all year and are wrapping things up on National Public Lands Day. Help us put the final touches on this trail restoration. No experience required. Bug spray and sunscreen recommended. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Sign Up to Volunteer!

(11 AM) Ribbon Cutting & Official Reopening of Bluff Line Trail: We’ll gather at Bankhead Trailhead for a short celebration to officially reopen Bluff Line Trail after our 9 month long restoration efforts and recognized everyone who contributed to make it possible!

(11:15 AM – 1 PM) Guided Hike on Bluff Line Trail: (3 miles / Moderate / 1.5 hours) Following the ceremony, take a hike down the newly restored Bluff Line Trail. If you worked on the project or just want to see the results you can join us for a group excursion to check it out! Sign Up for the Hike.
