Join the Land Trust Team!

We are currently looking for applicants to fill the following positions:

Financial Administrator

Status: Part-time – Permanent – Hours vary by time of month, avg. 10 hours/weekly – Non-Exempt
Wages: $28.50/hour
Reports To: Executive Director

 Responsibilities

General:

  • Verify that accounts are in balance and the operating account is always funded; reconcile bank statements, endowment statements, credit card statements
  • Generate monthly reports for Board meetings and other reports, as requested
  • Create PowerPoint Slides for Board meetings bi-monthly
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes and work with auditor to provide documents needed.
  • Pay sales and use tax/liquor tax monthly.
  • Maintain restricted/grant income and expenses
  • Assist with events (Concert and Moon Dance)
  • Order supplies as needed for staff
  • Submit State Charitable Registration applications annually
  • Perform audit for Workers Comp annually
  • Maintain accounts with phone/cell phone and internet companies
  • Maintain Health Insurance enrollments

Payroll:

  • Review approved timesheets for accuracy and record into time study evaluation
  • Process bi-weekly payroll in QuickBooks
  • Pay payroll taxes bi-weekly
  • File quarterly/annual federal and state payroll forms
  • Provide W-2s for employees and 1099s for contractor laborers

Accounts Payable:

  • Pay monthly invoices and check requests in QuickBooks in a timely manner.
  • Print checks and submit for signatures and distribution

Other Duties as Assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • At least 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in non-profit setting
  • Experience in QuickBooks and Excel
  • Enthusiasm for the mission, goals, and values of the Land Trust
  • Self-directed, organized, attention to detail, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to encourage teamwork and work cooperatively with others.

Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve Land Steward

Status: Part Time – 20 Hours/Week – Temporary – Non-exempt
Wages: $15/Hour
Reports To: Land Manager
Location: Cane Creek Nature Preserve (Colbert County, Alabama)

Responsibilities

Support the Land Manager by working independently to identify and complete tasks that arise from regular inspections of the preserve’s trails and infrastructure and monitor preserve visitor check in and out.

General:

  • Monitor and maintain all trail infrastructure emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms, and monitoring trail signage.
  • Check visitors in and out of the preserve weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays)
  • Collect drop box donations after each weekend.

Property Stewardship:

  • Promptly report any trail maintenance, infrastructure, or signage issues to the Land Manager.
  • Report weekly to the Land Manager visitor logs and volunteer opportunity requests,
  • Assist, as needed, other LTNAL staff or property management volunteers
  • Support additional tasks as identified and assigned by the Land Manager

Job Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to consistently lift heavy objects, hike long distances and work in a variety of terrains and weather conditions
  • Basic mechanical abilities and familiarity using and maintaining battery, gas and hand operated tools and equipment
  • A current Alabama State driver’s license and good driving record
