Usage Guidelines

  • The hiking trails within Land Trust properties are available for your use dawn to dusk. The gate for the Matthews Nature Preserve is located between 28850 and 28910 Dorning Road in Toney, Alabama.
  • Chains and padlocks must be replaced on all gates for the duration of your visit as this is a working cattle farm.
  • In case of rain, the Land Trust will attempt to reschedule your event, pending availability of the property.
  • You are responsible for your own trash and garbage. Bag it and take it with you when you leave.
  • Bring an adequate amount of water for drinking and washing.
  • Alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, firearms, and fireworks are strictly forbidden.
  • Rock climbing, rappelling, or related activities are not allowed without prior permission.
  • Do not remove plants, rocks, or animals.
  • Dogs are not allowed on the property.
  • Do not drive nails into trees.
  • Any fresh tagging/graffiti will be considered vandalism and your responsibility unless notification is promptly given to the Land Trust upon arrival and discovery at your camping, hike, tour, or event location.
